Newspapers: Dead or Alive?

"Newspapers are dead."

I've heard it a lot this year - those same three words.  Maybe it's because they roll off the tongue so easily and are challenged by almost no one. Maybe it's because in order to show others that we are charging toward the future, we must proclaim certain things from the past to be "dead."

But sometimes facts get in the way.

ObitNetwork "Lite" Test Launching in January

On Monday, January 3, Legacy.com will begin testing a "lite" version of the ObitNetwork product. This version enables funeral homes to take advantage of advertising positions on their online newspaper obituaries to build awareness of their brands and drive traffic to their websites.

The product will be available only for online obituaries associated with paid print obituaries.

Benefits to newspapers include

1) an additional incentive for funeral homes to place paid obituaries in the newspaper

2) maintains the newspaper as the initial source of obituary information.

All SCI locations will be participating in the test, currently scheduled to run during the first quarter of 2011.  Assuming positive results, we expect to make ObitNetwork "Lite" available to all funeral homes sometime during Q1 2011.

For more information, please see our FAQs or contact us today.
