Cox Media Group is an integrated broadcasting, publishing, direct marketing and digital media company. The company’s operations currently include eight daily newspapers and more than a dozen non-daily publications, and more than 100 digital services.
In 2014, Cox Media Group upgraded to Legacy.com’s Next Generation Obituary platform. Their transition to NGO has led to great results for their obituary category:
Legacy.com introduced its Next Generation Obituary (NGO) to position its newspaper partners for the future. The new online obituary solution makes it easier for users to find service information, send flowers and leave a message in the Guest Book. NGO’s innovative design has larger photos and text, a funeral services column, options to send sympathy flowers or a make a donation in memory of the deceased, a permanent Guest Book where people can post a comment, photo, or video and a mobile platform that seamlessly translates across all device types. Cox Media Group saw these product enhancements as an opportunity to provide their readers with the best user experience and upgraded to NGO in 2014. The new features allow Cox Media Group to provide their readers with the features they are looking for while providing value to funeral home partners.
Obituaries and funeral notices are important to our audience. Legacy’s platform has helped us to reach new readers via social networks and mobile devices. The Next Generation initiative is making it easier for us to better engage and serve an increasingly mobile audience. I am grateful that Legacy understands the importance of this content category to new and returning readers.
