The new online obituary solution makes it easier for users to find service information, send flowers and leave a message in the Guest Book. NGO’s innovative design has larger photos and text, a funeral services column, options to send sympathy flowers or a make a donation in memory of the deceased, a permanent Guest Book where people can post a comment, photo, or video and a mobile platform that seamlessly translates across all device types. Cox Media Group saw these product enhancements as an opportunity to provide their readers with the best user experience and upgraded to NGO in 2014. The new features allow Cox Media Group to provide their readers with the features they are looking for while providing value to funeral home partners.
Obituaries and funeral notices are important to our audience. Cox Media Results
The decision to upgrade to NGO has led to meaningful results for Cox Media for user engagement, traffic and revenue. During the first half of 2015, there was a 38% increase in sessions per notice, a 32% increase in social shares, a 47% increase in new users and a 10% decrease in the bounce rate, compared to the previous year.
NGO’s added mobile and social functionality also led to traffic gains. Cox Media Group saw a 15% increase in organic search traffic, an 83% increase in social traffic and a 43% increase in mobile traffic during the same time period.
Next Generation Obituary has not only increased traffic and provided a better user experience to Cox Media Group’s audience, it has also led to increased revenue for the company.
